
Weather is inherently fluid — it ebbs, flows, and responds to forces beyond our control. When I was brought on to build AccuWeather's Motion Foundation, that became the design principle everything else was built around: fluidity. I developed a comprehensive motion system rooted in nature that gave the brand a consistent, recognizable language across every touchpoint: broadcast, app, marketing, and digital out of home. The goal was to create something flexible enough to scale across a global brand serving 200M+ monthly users, while remaining simple enough for any team to implement. Motion isn't decoration, it's behavior, and it has a profound impact on how people experience and connect with a brand.
This was an assignment for School of Motion's Advance Motion Methods course. The brief was that Museum Milano was holding an exhibition of artist Isabella Conticello’s work and wanted to see her art come alive and tell a story that relates to one of her famous quotes, “An asymmetrical division is needed in order to create the dynamics necessary for progression and extension from unity.”
