Unveiling Expectations

Unveiling Expectations is an exploration of the movie industry, and the unbelievable expectations it puts on marriages and weddings. In this day and age where weddings cost the same as a down payment on a house, we should be asking ourselves why do we feel the need to succumb to what society expects of us.

I created this wedding veil by laser cutting the titles of different romantic movies that embody the idea of having the perfect marriage and wedding. The typography is the same type as the title sequence of each movie, allowing the audience to connect to the original movie and its message — to be truly happy you have to have “the perfect wedding.” However, once all the titles are layered on top of each other, they obscure the bride’s vision. She can no longer see, or be seen, and loses sight of what is important for herself and her own future.
